Crissy Ziegler - PE teacher and Leader of Athletic Development
I have over 25 years of Division I Softball playing and coaching experience. In 1997, I was one of the nation’s top recruits. That summer I was invited alongside future Olympians to Olympic Festivals, which was limited to 66 of the nation’s top players. I went on to play at UCLA where I experienced the highest level of success as a vital member of the 1999 National Championship team. During my playing career, UCLA appeared in four Women’s College World Series and was in the National Championship game 3 times.
Immediately upon graduating from UCLA in 2002, I became an assistant softball coach at Oregon State University and was there until 2011. After my time there, my husband Brendon, and I moved to Bakersfield, CA where we were coaches at California State University, Bakersfield, a Division I program. There we had our son, Brock. Brock went to St. John’s Lutheran School for Pre-K and we saw the important role a Lutheran school had on not only our child, but our entire family as well. This is what strengthened My faith in God and showed me a path as a teacher for younger students.
In 2022, we moved to Arlington Heights. Brendon received a job at Northwestern University as a strength and conditioning coach for the men’s basketball program. While searching for a new home, our family found St. Peter as a great community and school to help continue Brock’s education. In 2023 I became St. Peter’s PE teacher and Leader of Athletic Development and we became members of St. Peter.
