Alicia Potvin - 1st grade teacher
As I enter my 20th year of teaching in Lutheran education I am honored to begin at St. Peter. I graduated from Concordia University Chicago with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a concentration in Psychology. In 2019 I earned an Orton Gillingham reading certification. My prior 19 years were at St. Johns Lutheran in Lombard. I began with a few years in preschool, moving to Kindergarten for the majority of my teaching before teaching the last two years in 1st grade at St. John’s.
My husband Paul and I have been married for 19 years. He teaches high school Automotive Technology at East Leyden High School. We have two children, Morgan is a freshman at Glenbard East High School and Blake a 5th grade at St. Peter. Our furry family member is Tito, a 6 year old Yorkshire /Jack Russell Terrier. As a family we enjoy boating, wakeboarding, biking and hiking. My hobby is growing a dahlia flower garden and Bible journaling.
I am passionate about building foundational faith in young children. I am extremely grateful for the Holy Spirit's calling for me to continue to grow at St. Peter. I am excited to dig deeper into my faith journey as I empress upon the deep love and value our Lord and Savior has for my students.
