KINDERGARTEN PICNIC NIGHT
One of St. Peter’s beloved family events has always been Kindergarten Restaurant Night. COVID forced some alterations to this event, but our kindergarten teachers got creative and were able to host an evening that was fun for everyone. Last Friday was Kindergarten Picnic Night at St. Peter out on the front lawn.
The kindergarten classes prepared in advance by taking a virtual field trip to Smith and Wollensky, a restaurant in downtown Chicago. The kids were able to see the restaurant, learn about taking orders and serving food, and see how meals are prepared. They even got to see the bridge going up and down on the river!
On Friday evening, families brought their own dinners to eat on blankets and lawn chairs outside while the kids all had a chance to play. When it came time for dessert, the kindergarteners were ready to show the skills they had learned. They donned their aprons, grabbed their clipboards and order forms, and began taking their families’ drink and dessert orders. The choices were Oreos or Rice Krispies Treats, and water or juice pouches. Once the kids took the orders and treats were served, they were ready to perform two songs for their families.
The weather may have been on the chilly side, but the evening was filled with warmth and community as the kindergarten families gathered together for this fun event.
