MEET MRS. ROGERS
Teachers influence the lives of children every single day. A good teacher can be instrumental in helping students grow in their academic lives as well as in their walks with the Lord. That is why it is so important that teachers are taught how to teach and manage students effectively and part of that process is student teaching. In January, St. Peter welcomed student teacher Mrs. Mackenzie Rogers to 3rd grade.
Mrs. Rogers grew up in Rolling Meadow with her family. Her mom is Mrs. Shelly Nagle, St. Peter’s middle school history teacher! Mrs. Rogers made the decision to pursue teaching when she was working as a Special Education Aide with D96. Initially, she wanted to be a school psychologist, but she discovered that she loved being in the classroom. She enjoys growing relationships with students and seeing them develop into great learners throughout the year.
She is currently attending Liberty University. She chose Liberty University because she knew it would prepare her to be an educator who prioritizes faith in the classroom. She will graduate with her Master’s in Education this May. Her favorite thing about 3rd grade is how the students get so enthusiastic to learn! Mrs. Rogers gets equally excited to plan learning activities that will engage the students. Her favorite subject to teach is science. The class has had a great time recently learning about weather.
In her short time at St. Peter, Mrs. Rogers has seen God working in the lives of students through their desire to learn more about Him and their identities in Christ. She feels blessed to be here where she can encourage students to grow in their faith. Her favorite Bible verse is Exodus 34:29, “When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God” (ESV). She loves this verse because of the way Moses’ face shone after meeting with God. After we experience a glimpse of Heaven through prayer, worship, and Scripture reading, our hearts shine in the way we treat and love those around us. What a wonderful idea to share with the students!
Mrs. Rogers has been a great addition to the staff and the 3rd grade class as she finishes up her student teaching. God will use her in mighty ways!
