Our facilities team
When it becomes essential to keep the places where we learn, work, and play clean and free of germs, who ya gonna call to do the job? Our Germ Busters - the Facilities Team at St. Peter. Jim Thomas leads the team, which comprises Jason Carson, Arturo Gamez, and Bob Vossel. They have received a lot of education and training in recent weeks to ensure the use of the best tools to keep our students and staff as safe as possible. Our team is cleaning the building daily by disinfecting tables between lunch periods, cleaning bathrooms more frequently, disinfecting classroom floors every night, and extra cleaning of high touch surfaces. What many people may not know is what happens in the building on Saturday. It takes six people a combined 46 - 48 hours to disinfect the entire building.
They use various disinfectant spraying applications to cover all the different surfaces and varying needs in the building to make sure the right product is used in the right places for the right amount of time. Victory electrostatic sprayer - battery-powered pump charges disinfectant as it passes through, which draws particles that are in hard to reach places.
Mister - a hospital-grade misting system, using Vital Oxide to clean classrooms and other high use areas
Echo hand pump - used for hallways, fabrics, and carpets. Spray with a piston pump for a better soak and longer wet time for soft surfaces
Negative air exchanger - can exchange all the air in a room in 30 minutes.
Fogger - disinfectant coverage is not as specific but hits a large area and stays wet for about 10 minutes, making it very effective in killing bacteria and viruses.
IPC Eagle - used to clean the cafeteria tables with a new pad after every act of cleaning
New mopping system - disinfectant is dispensed directly from a nozzle on the bucket onto the floor. No mophead is dipped into the water so that the water always stays clean. A new microfiber cloth is used to wipe each room's floor clean, so there is no cross-contamination between rooms.
All the disinfectants used are EPA approved, hospital grade, and safe.
As St. Peter moves forward in the school year, these men are our unsung heroes, the ones doing everything they can to keep the building clean and free of germs so that our students may continue to learn and play safely in person here at St. Peter!
