This past week, St. Peter had a special announcement for our preschool families. Mrs. Stephanie Keller, a long-time St. Peter teacher, will be returning to the preschool classroom to lead our new class starting on January 4! Mrs. Keller has been with St. Peter since 1992 and has spent 12 years in our preschool department.
During her time at St. Peter, Mrs. Keller has taught preschool, 2nd grade, technology, and was the school librarian for 25 years. She also coached volleyball and track and field. This fall, she was part of our Student Services team, assisting in the elementary and middle school classes and helping our remote learners. For the past seven years, Mrs. Keller has been part of the Comfort Dog team. She is now the “Top Dog,” meaning she acts as the liaison between St. Peter and Lutheran Church Charities and is in charge of that program here. Mrs. Keller is currently working with Benjamin, a three-year-old Comfort Dog, who is new to the St. Peter community. If she hadn’t become a teacher, she probably would have done something with animals. Ask her about the time she got to take baby tigers swimming!! St. Peter is so blessed to have Mrs. Keller here – and especially to have her back as part of the preschool team!
Her preschool class will begin on Monday, January 4, for 3 and 4-year-olds, and will be run as a flex class. Parents can choose the schedule they would like for their child from 2 half days to 5 full days of school and anything in between. Mrs. Keller is excited to get to know the kids and their families, read to them, and teach them about Jesus! There is still space available, so if you or someone you know would be interested in learning more about this class, please contact Jill Hanssen.
As we close out 2020, a year filled with unknowns and change, and we look forward to 2021 with hope and trust in our sovereign God, Mrs. Keller’s favorite verse is one to cling to; “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble,” Psalm 46:1. As we focus on the promise of God’s love for us this Christmas and we celebrate the gift of His Son, we can rest knowing that He is always in control.
