The St. Peter Athletic Department offers a variety of summer athletic camps that are open to the community. Our experienced group of coaches instruct and challenge children to take their skills to the next level.
Basketball Camp is led by the following head instructors accompanied by other fantastic members of our coaching staff and basketball alumni. Matt Huonder (St. Peter Director of Athletics & Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach) / Corinne Ginder (St. Peter Alumna) – Current St. Peter Coach, IHSA Hall of Fame Inductee, Hersey High School & Illinois State University standout / Brandon Veenendaal (St. Peter Alumna) – current St. Peter JV Boys Coach, Fall and Spring Ball instructor.
Volleyball Camp is led by Kristin Harman. Coach Harman is our D.C.E. and currently assists with our Track & Field team. She is a former high school and college volleyball player for Concordia University Chicago.
St. Peter Athletic Running Club (SPARC) is led by our cross country coach and endurance athlete, Jeff Rodgers. Coach Rodgers led the Saints to LSA State & Lutheran National Championships in 2013 and followed that up with a 2nd place finish at Nationals in 2014. Coach Rodgers led the girl's team to LSA state championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He also led the girls to a National Championship in 2017 and National Runner-up in 2018.
Cheerleading Camp is led by current Saints Varsity Cheerleading coach, Chelsea Masterson (St. Peter Alumna). Chelsea participated in cheer through high school and has experience coaching multiple levels including leading our Jr. Cheers Program during basketball season.
We have two gymnasiums that are accessible at the southeast part of the building. Our larger gym, the Martin Activity Center, is air conditioned and both gyms are used for basketball and volleyball. We have two height adjustable basketball hoops to utilize when teaching our younger basketball participants. SPARC will utilize the field on the south side of our property where we host cross country meets on our course in the fall. Coach Rodgers will also train SPARC athletes at area parks and forest preserves.
All participants will receive a camp t-shirt and the opportunity to receive group and individual training from our staff.The 2019 camp registration deadline is Tuesday, May 28th.
