Jessica B award
Congratulations to Jessica Bergman on receiving the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Award on March 17, 2017.  Jessica and her parents were honored at a breakfast hosted by IPA at the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights.  Jessica was one of only 27 students being recognized in the North Cook County region.  

Jessica is pictured with members of IPA, Mrs. Lisa Smith, Assistant Principal St. Peter Lutheran School,  and the Illinois Teacher of the Year, Mr. Ricardo Castro.

 


New Member Classes Starting Soon

Are you interested in learning more about St. Peter Church or becoming a member? Join us for our upcoming New Member classes! The process of becoming a member is two easy steps: New Member Orientation and Lutheranism 101 class.  During the New Member Orientation, Pastor Greiner will walk you through some of the history of St. Peter, including where we are heading as a congregation, and review the basics of the Christian faith. Upcoming New Member Orientation Sessions are Sunday, January 22 from 12:30-2:30 PM and Wednesday, February 1 from 6:30-8:30 PM. After that, the next step is to take the six week Lutheranism 101 course, offered during the Bible Study time block on Sundays, starting Sunday, February 5, at 10:00 AM. Cross County Saints Win Honors at LSA Meet
October 2016

The St. Peter Saints made history at the LSA State Cross Country Meet with some
outstanding performances at the 2016 LSA Cross Country meet in Bloomington, IL on Saturday, October 15th.  Both the boys and girls teams qualified for the Lutheran National meet by finishing in the Top 5.  Led by 8th grader Griffin Ginder’s 2nd place finish, the boys team came in 4th place.  The girls team won the LSA State title for the first time in school history!  6th grader, Anna Harden, won the individual state title for the second year in a row and Mackenzie Ginder and Olivia Harmon also finished in the top 15.  We had 19 personal records set in Bloomington on a pretty challenging course which led to these awesome results!   All of our athletes raced very well and have worked so hard this season under the leadership of coaches, Jeff Rodgers and Lexi Schmidt.  Congratulations to all of our cross country families, coaches, and athletes! 


National Lutheran Basketball Tournament, Valparasio March 2016

Nationals St Peter Boys and Girls teams

Sixty-four teams from Lutheran schools from around the United States  gathered  March 17 - 20  at Valparaiso University in Indiana for the Lutheran  Basketball Association of America's (LBAA)  National Tournament.  St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights, was honored to have both of its varsity girls and boys teams in this year's national Lutheran School Basketball Tournament.  The varsity Saints boys team  ended up with three wins and two losses in tournament play to make it to the final four in the consolation championship bracket.   They finished with 30 wins for the season, which is a St. Peter Saints record. The varsity Lady Saints team ended up with one win and one loss in the girls bracket.  Both teams and their families enjoyed a great weekend of competitive basketball and fun family fellowship.

Regional Science Fair 2016

Congratulations to our eleven 7th Graders for their fine showing in the Regional Science Fair held Saturday, March 5th  at Niles North High School in Skokie—Jessica Bergman, Ryan Brown, Gia Douvikas, Allison Drake, Sara Frycek, Griffin Ginder, Grace Hiller, Carson Milligan, Tori Nickens, Kayleigh Rodgers, and Josh Ryg.  Five of our students are moving on to the state competition being held May 14th at Millikin University in Decatur.  These students are Carson Milligan, Ryan Brown, Grace Hiller, Tori Nickens, and Kayleigh Rodgers.  Seven of our students received the highest award of gold and four received silver awards.  In addition, two of our students won Best in Category for their projects: Carson Milligan for his Earth Science project and Gia Douvikas for her BioChemistry project.   Congratulations also to Carson and Grace who were nominated to compete in the BroadCom Masters Program, a national science competition for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students

St. Peter Science and Religion Teacher, Paul Piel, was named Middle Teacher of the Year by the Northern Illinois District Teachers Conference at their annual meeting on October 9, 2015.   Mr. Mike Zimmer, Mission Facilitator for Lutheran Schools announced the award to 350+ Lutheran Educators with the following comments:   "Whether it be assisting 8th graders explore their DNA through engaging on-line activities,   motivating and supporting 7th graders through their science fair projects, or working with 6th graders during their outdoor education week at Walcamp, this year’s Middle School Teacher of the Year,  Mr. Piel, excels and goes the extra mile with his students.  St. Peter Lutheran Church and School parents and staff look to this teacher as a leader in instruction, technology, and being a great role model to his students. They also greatly appreciate his extreme dedication and work in putting together memorable DVD presentations for each graduating class at their 8th grade banquet celebration.  The Northern Illinois District and Lutheran Education Association seek him out as a district and national leader in the areas of technology innovation and support for their programs and convocations.  Most of all, his integration of the Lord into the lives and learning of his middle school students highlights his role as an exceptional  teacher."
