Community Threads Ribbon Cutting

We have wonderful and amazing news to share with you about a huge milestone in the life of Community Threads.  In October, the store was able to produce out of sale proceeds another round of grants in the total amount of $80,000 for our affiliated ministries!  St. Peter received $28,000, the Orchard Network received $25,000, Breakthrough received $18,000 and Prince of Peaces (whose affiliation with the store is now ended) received $9,000.  We thank God for His blessing on the store and thank YOU volunteers and our donors for your faithfulness.

Even more remarkable is that with these latest grant awards, Community Threads reached over one million dollars distributed to our affiliated ministries since we started.  To God be the glory.  We also have no debt, an adequate emergency fund and high trust all around with our staff, board, ministry leaders and public.  We pray that our witness for Christ may be evident in the way we conduct our store ministry within our community.  Today, will you say a prayer of thanks to God with me?  He is so good to us!

May we also bring a need to you?  We have been blessed with many things to process and sell but we are very short handed in the store.  We really need folks to come in and serve so we can make the most of this holiday retail season.  If we can't get it out of the back to sell we cannot take advantage of the pre-Christmas and Christmas sales.  Will you help with an extra shift this November and December or organize a group to come in and serve?  Things slow down in January and we will be wishing for people to come in and shop!  Thank you for considering helping just a little more.

Blessings on all that you are doing to make the holidays bright for many.

Elizabeth Maring, Executive Director

Learn More Quick Facts about Community Threads »

It serves our Church and community in so many ways. We have been truly blessed by all the people who have worked so hard to make it a reality!

WE DO NEED YOUR HELP – Our volunteer commitments have been strong but we’re in need of more help. So here are some ways you can contribute to Community Threads:

Regular Volunteers:Community Threads 1

Regular weekly or every other week volunteers are the backbone of this ministry! Sorters, receivers, pricers, cashiers, handymen, sales associates are all needed! Training will be provided.

“On-Call” Substitutes are also extremely needed! Subs are a key to keeping the volunteer base up and the store running smoothly. Subs are e-mailed open/unfilled slots twice a month and can choose to fill it if they are available.

Sort Nights:

Community threads 2These nights are held periodically through the year to sort, clean and place incoming items and donations. This is a fun and meaningful way to serve!  Sort night opportunities include: ladies night out, small group project, family night… It’s a great way to draw together family and friends to support St. Peter in a practical way.

Donations:
Community Threads 3
Donation credits from St. Peter people are huge!  Clean out your closets or bring garage sale left overs and drop them off at Community Threads any time the store is open.  Go to the back of the store for drop off and be sure to list the number of bags or boxes for a St. Peter donation.  St Peter receives credit for each of these bags/bags which translates into money at the store's "grant time."

The old adage of "one person's junk is another man's treasure is true each day at Threads.

Join the fun and participate with the hundreds of others doing so.

Your involvement in any of these opportunities will be a blessing! Thank you for considering them. If you are interested please let us know or email Mary at  mecmayo@yahoo.com 773-960-1151.
