1. What is Community Threads?
Community Threads is a Christian non-profit upscale thrift store operated for the benefit of its charitable grant recipients.

2. Who are the charitable grant recipients of Community Threads?
The grant recipients are Saint Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights, The Orchard Evangelical Free Church in Arlington Heights and Breakthrough Urban Ministries in Chicago.

3. What is the mission of Community Threads?
The mission of Community Threads is to offer great merchandise, both new and used, at the lowest possible price in order to serve our customers and the local community while providing financial support for our ministry partners.

4. How did Community Threads get started?
As a response to the economic hardship and reduced donor base in their local communities brought on by the recent recession, a local St. Peter alumni family created Community Threads to raise financial support for Christian non-profits that were already effectively serving the local community.

5. How does Community Threads raise funds for local non-profits?

All profits are distributed by Community Threads to its grant recipients in proportion to their levels of volunteer participation and the amount of goods they have donated.

6. How will the profits received by the alliance partners be used?
All store profits received by the grant recipients will be applied to: school scholarships and lowering tuition costs at St. Peter and benevolence programs in the local community for The Orchard and Breakthrough. The greater the store profits, the more support goes to education and relief programs in our community.

7. What are the benefits of volunteering?
First, more store profits will flow to the store’s grant recipients because of your service. Next, store customers will receive the best goods at the lowest price because of lower labor costs. Third, your service provides significant help to those in your community who rely on thrift goods to survive in tough economic times and finally, you will be part of an important recycling and conservation effort by keeping used goods out of overflowing landfills.

8. When and where can I bring in my donations?

You can bring donations to the store anytime during regular store hours and receive a tax receipt. Community Threads does have the capacity to make furniture pick-ups by appointment
