National Lutheran CC Champions 2017
Athletic Update:  October 27, 2017

St. Peter Saints are Cross Country National Champs!
After tremendous finishes at the LSA State Meet in Bloomington, our teams capped off an incredible season at the 8th annual Lutheran National Meet over the weekend hosted by Concordia Wisconsin.  Over 80 schools from around the country were represented!  For the 6th year in a row, the Boys team finished in the Top 10 at Nationals. Led by 8th grader, Josh Mayo, the Saints finished in 10th place as a team.  Josh was named a 2nd Team All-American in the 7th & 8th division for his outstanding individual performance.

The girls team completed their PERFECT season staying undefeated and winning the National Title for the first time in school history. Anna Harden led the way winning the individual title.  She also set a course record and now holds it for both 6th grade and under girls division as well as 7th-8th grade girls.   She is now a three-time State and National champion.  Five girls were named All-Americans: Anna, Mackenzie Ginder, and Ellise Condon (1st Team), Emma VanMeveren (2nd Team), and Olivia Harmon (3rd Team).  Together, the girls team scored the fewest number of points in the history of the National meet and had the lowest combined average time which was an astounding 12:42. Congratulations to our coaching staff of Jeff Rodgers, Lexi Schmidt, and Meaghan Harmon.  Our National team consisted of 18 total runners and we are so proud of all their hard work!  Way to go Yashua, Zach, Ella, Brandon K., Jacob K., Jacob L., Megan, Jared, Johnny, Nolan, Abigail V., and Eva!  Fun Fact: This is the 5th year in a row that our girls qualified for the National Meet.  8th graders, Abigail Varvara and Olivia Harmon have race in this meet for the last 5 years!

Fall Sports Highlights - 2015

Cross Country
Our boys and girls cross country teams raced in the LSA State Meet this past October in Bloomington, IL and both teams finished in the top 5.  Our boys teams placed 4th led by Cade Milligan (4th place) and Griffin Ginder (6th place).  For the girls, our team placed 3rd and Anna Harden finished as the state champion!  This is a tremendous feat as Anna is a 5th grader who raced at the Varsity level and beat girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade!  Several of our runners set personal records according to Coach Rodgers and Coach Schmidt.  The St. Peter Saints runners then capped off their season at the Lutheran National Grade School Meet hosted by Concordia Wisconsin.  Both the Boys and Girls teams took 5th overall against competition from other Lutheran schools around the Midwest.  Cade Milligan, Griffin Ginder, Josh Mayo, and Anna Harden all took home All-American honors for finishing in the Top 15 for their age divisions.  Harden followed up her LSA state title by winning the Lutheran Nationals running the two mile course in 12:28. The Saints Cross Country program continues to grow as fourteen 4th and 5thgraders  ran as part of the Saints Jr. Running Club.

Volleyball
The St. Peter Saints Boys volleyball team made school history by winning the LSA State Volleyball Championship in Springfield, IL in November!  The team became the first St. Peter volleyball team to win a LSA volleyball title after defeating St. Paul, Mount Prospect in the championship match held at Lincoln Land Community College.  Luke Picchiotti was named to the LSA All-Tournament team.    Led by head coach Steven Kay and assistant Kevin Orton, the Saints finished the season undefeated with a record of 25-0-1 winning the Bethany - Naperville Tournament, Trojan Classic, and taking home the NWSLC Conference championship as well.

The St. Peter Girls Varsity team also had a strong showing as they finished up their season at the LSA State tournament.  The team made the field for the first time since 2010 and went 2-2 over the weekend eventually losing to Zion, Marengo in the Consolation bracket.  The girls team finished their season 16-9 as NWSLC Co-Conference Champs and took 2nd place at the Bethany –Naperville Tournament.

The Saints also fielded a 6th grade co-ed volleyball team that competed against other Lutheran schools in the NWSL Conference.  Our 6th graders were high energy competitors all year and are prepared to make the jump to Varsity volleyball next year.
