2015-2016 St. Peter Athletics in Review

Our year got off to a fast start with 5th grader, Anna Harden winning the LSA State and Lutheran National cross country meets and leading our girls team to a 3rd place finish at LSA. Then our Boys volleyball team made school history by becoming the first St. Peter team to win the LSA State Volleyball Championship!  Our Girls team also qualified for State for the first time since 2010.  The fall was followed by a busy basketball season that was capped off by both Varsity Basketball teams qualifying for LSA State and then heading to Valparaiso University for the LBAA National Tournament.  Our 6th grade boys team also made St. Peter headlines when Connor Dell’s half court buzzer beat helped them win their final game of the season.  Not only was it a great way to end their season, the amazing shot put St. Peter on the global map as ESPN aired it on national TV.   Most recently, our 8th grade boys won the MSMSAC Conference Track meet for the first time in conference history!   25 of our Track athletes qualified to compete at this year’s LSA State Meet where our Boys team finished as Champions behind some incredible individual and team efforts.  It has been a historic year for the Saints and we look forward to our summer camps and gearing up for 2016-17!

Our boys and girls cross country teams raced in the LSA State Meet this past October in Bloomington, IL and both teams finished in the top 5.  Our boys teams placed 4th led by Cade Milligan (4th place) and Griffin Ginder (6th place).  For the girls, our team placed 3rd and Anna Harden finished as the state champion!  This is a tremendous feat as Anna is a 5th grader who raced at the Varsity level and beat girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade!  Several of our runners set personal records according to Coach Rodgers and Coach Schmidt.  The St. Peter Saints runners then capped off their season at the Lutheran National Grade School Meet hosted by Concordia Wisconsin.  Both the Boys and Girls teams took 5th overall against competition from other Lutheran schools around the Midwest.  Cade Milligan, Griffin Ginder, Josh Mayo, and Anna Harden all took home All-American honors for finishing in the Top 15 for their age divisions.  Harden followed up her LSA state title by winning the Lutheran Nationals running the two mile course in 12:28. The Saints Cross Country program continues to grow as fourteen 4th and 5thgraders  ran as part of the Saints Jr. Running Club.
